Race-based croneyism is infecting the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Assistant Employment Security Administrator Dr. Turner Nashe is in a club which is being used as a supply line for jobs with the TDLWD. Page 5 of the club’s magazine issuu.com/magazine2000/docs/mentor2012 lists their first sponsor as Deloitte. Earlier this year, Commissioner Karla Davis tried to set up a meeting with representatives from Deloitte. She was advised by staff that this meeting would not be proper because Deloitte is expected to bid on an upcoming multi-million dollar IT project and the meeting was cancelled.
The club is the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee (http://www.the100middletn.org/index.php/9-general-posting/the-project).
They are taking over the TDLWD.
Dr. Turner Nashe (TDLWD) Unemployment Insurance Director (http://www.timesnews.net/article/9039711/) was hired November 1, 2011 by TDLWD Assistant Director Alisa Malone (http://www.tn.gov/labor-wfd/BIOS2.htm).
Nashe, who is secretary of the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee (http://www.the100middletn.org/index.php/9-general-posting/the-project) and friend of the TDLWD Deputy Commissioner Alisa Malone’s, ex-husband Melvin Malone (http://www.millermartin.com/attorneys/melvin-j-malone) of Miller & Martin law firm (also a member of the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee), was under indictment1 for mortgage fraud in Cuyahoga County Ohio when he was hired.
Melvin Malone (http://www.millermartin.com/attorneys/melvin-j-malone) of Miller & Martin law firm was personally recommended by Turner Nashe (http://www.timesnews.net/article/9039711/) to provide legal representation for a large multi-million dollar IT project project within the TDLWD. Melvin Malone personally provided the Miller & Martin proposal on March 23, 2012.
Melvin Malone had previously served as Deputy Legal Counsel to the previous Republican Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist, 1995-1996.
Ron Jones (http://www.tn.gov/labor-wfd/BIOS2.htm), Administrator if Fiscal Services at the TDLWD and member of the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee (http://www.tn.gov/labor-wfd/BIOS/bio_RonJones.pdf) was also called to duty by Deputy Commissioner Malone since her 2011 appointment.
Several kids of Nashe’s friends in the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee have filled interviewer jobs since Nashe’s appointment, bragging that their daddies were in a club with Dr. Nashe.
On April 23, 2012, the TDLWD began a 10-week IT Assessment. The winner of the “competitive” process was Zycron, Inc. under Chairman Darrell S. Freeman (http://www.zycron.com/news/archives/03142007.htm) , a member of 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee. This was another personal selection of Dr. Turner Nashe (http://www.timesnews.net/article/9039711/). Nashe’s fraudulent past raises the question of whether impropriety is involved.
The mission of the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee is "To nurture and enhance the growth, development, and opportunities for young, Black males of Middle Tennessee." A fine goal but the manner in which this agenda is being thrust on the TDLWD raises the question if race-based croneyism is involved.
1According to news articles, mortgage fraud charges were filed against Nashe related to a real estate transaction at 1914 Woodbrook Drive in Lyndhurst, Ohio. Naki Willmore (aka Nakia Gainer, aka Nakia Gillmore), wife or ex-wife of Turner Nashe's Triton Financial Group partner and accused murderer/drug trafficker Kevin Gainer, set up a false bank account by stealing someone's identity. Turner Nashe deposited $93,000 for a down payment to purchase the condo for $952,000. Dave Love, who worked for Turner at Triton Financial Group as a loan officer (without a license) submitted false loan applications on behalf of buyers. When the condo sold, Nashe siphoned off $210,000. The appraised value of the foreclosed property was $450,000 in August 2010 when it was auctioned.
Nashe was indicted on one count of Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity, two counts of Money Laundering, three counts of Aggravated Theft, and three counts of acting as a mortgage broker without a license. His case was dismissed without prejudice by the prosecutor’s request on November 28, 2011.
Dismissal without prejudice is a dismissal that allows for re-filing of the case in the future. It does not mean not guilty.
